In 2025, FGV EMAp launched the program “From the Classroom to EMAp”, an initiative designed to bring high school students closer to the fields of applied mathematics, data science, and artificial intelligence, while also presenting the wide range of career and market opportunities these areas offer across strategic sectors of society.
The goal of the program is to introduce, in an accessible and inspiring way, the broad scope of these professional fields and to spark young people’s interest in careers in science, technology, and innovation. To that end, EMAp professors share their experiences and research, demonstrating how applied mathematics and data science play a key role in solving real-world problems and driving the development of new technologies.
In addition to promoting the School’s undergraduate programs and academic excellence, the initiative also highlights EMAp’s infrastructure, highly qualified faculty, and the opportunities for both academic and professional growth available to its students.
The program’s activities take place in two formats:
- School visits: EMAp professors deliver lectures or classes on topics such as artificial intelligence, data science, and the applications of mathematics across different sectors of society;
- Visits to EMAp: groups of high school students are welcomed to explore EMAp’s facilities, take part in guided tours, and experience an introductory class in one of its key areas.
The “From the Classroom to EMAp” program seeks not only to inform, but also to inspire talent — showcasing the transformative potential of applied mathematics and data science in shaping the future.
