Renato Rocha Souza

Graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1993), Master in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2000), PhD in Information Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2005) and post-doctorate in Semantic Technologies for Information Retrieval - University of South Wales, UK, under the supervision of Douglas Tudhope. He is currently a professor and researcher at the School of Applied Mathematics (EMAp) of the Fundaçao Getulio Vargas and a collaborating professor at the School of Information Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He is also a Visiting Fellow at the University of South Wales, Senior Associate Researcher at the Columbia University, Researcher at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Researcher at Donau-Universität Krems. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal "Knowledge Organization", among other Journals. He works in the areas of Applied Mathematics, Information Science and Data Science, with research topics: Knowledge Representation, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval Systems, Automatic Indexing, Ontologies, Semantics and Knowledge Management. He has extensive experience in Information Technology, including applied to Education, in addition to experience in Distance Learning.
