When it comes to science, Brazil leaves nothing to be desired. According to the Journal Plos Biology, of the 100,000 most influential scientists in the world, 600 are Brazilian.
The ranking published on October 16th of this year lists the names of the most preeminent scientists according to the databases used until 2019.
The research "Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators" conducted by a team from Stanford University (USA) analyzed the citations from the Scopus database. It updates the position of scientists taking into account their impact over time career and also of a single year.
Although the number of researchers corresponds to only 2% of the total analyzed, it is a reason of great honor for the country to have its researchers being recognized internationally. Brazilian scientific research is paving the way and gaining space on the world academic scene.
