Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Data Science
The Visual Data Science Lab of The School of Applied Mathematics at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV/EMAp) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, invites applications for three postdoctoral fellowships in Data Science beginning no later than January 2023. We are looking for young talents to develop innovative research in Data Science. We seek outstanding applicants who have demonstrated research expertise focussing on machine learning, data visualization, natural language processing, and computer vision.
Postdocs will carry out their research work associated with one of the following projects:
- Evidence-based Monitoring and Prediction for Sustainable Forest Management
- Similarity Analysis in Brazilian Legal Documents
- Data-driven Intelligence for Urban Crime Analysis and Perception
Qualifications
The successful candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related fields by the time of the appointment. We expect the applicant to have an expanding track of publications and a strong potential for publishing in top-ranked journals and conferences. The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication and presentation skills.
Salary
The positions are for two years, with the possibility of extension for another 1-2 years. The fellowship is tax-free with a monthly salary from 9,000 to 14,000 Brazilian reais depending on the experience and skills.
