Holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UFRJ (2001), a master’s in Computer Science from UFF (2005) and PhD from PUC-Rio (2010). During his doctorate, he did research internships at Microsoft Research (2008), and at SRI International (2009). His research areas include: logics, knowledge representation, computational linguistics, computer theory, and formal methods.. Amongst his works, the following stand out: construction of linguistic resources (the Portuguese Wordnet and the Portuguese corpora in the Universal Dependencies project), category theory applied to align ontologies and deductive systems for descriptive logics. Alexandre is a member of the Global WordNet Association and the he served as coordinator of the Special Commission for Natural Language Processing of the Brazilian Computer Society (CE-PLN).
