Full Professor at the School of Applied Mathematics (EMAp), Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Holds an MD degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1976), a master's degree in Mathematics from the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (1980) and doctorate in Population Dynamics of Infectious Diseases from Harvard University (1988). He is a CNPq research productivity scholarship holder, retired full-time researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and adjunct professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Amongst his professional activities, Claudio was also a professor at the Faculty of Medicine at UFRJ, a visiting Professor at the Université de Montreal, Canada, and Fulbright Scholar at Yale University, USA. Experienced in the field of Public Health, with emphasis on Epidemiology, working mainly on the following themes: evaluation of vaccine efficacy, development of epidemiological methods for the study of infectious diseases, and development of quantitative models for describing the dynamics of transmission of infectious agents .
