Around 150 educators gathered in the municipality of Aracruz, Espírito Santo, for the Teachers' Meeting of the "Matemática na Rede" Program and Pedagogical Routines, organized by the Espírito Santo State Department of Education (Sedu ES). The event took place last week at Sesc Praia Formosa and featured two days of engaging discussions, hands-on workshops, and reflections on the future of mathematics education in the state. One of the highlights of the meeting was the participation of Professor Antonio Branco from the School of Applied Mathematics at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EMAp).
Renowned for his work in data science and artificial intelligence, Branco delivered a lecture addressing the role of mathematics in shaping students’ education in a world increasingly driven by data and technology.
In addition to the FGV EMAp representative, the event also featured notable speakers such as Marcelo Viana, Director-General of the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), and Professors Florêncio Guimarães and Luzia Casati from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES). The program also included practical workshops — such as those on Mathematical Games, led by invited teachers — as well as thematic lectures and meetings focused on preparing the Structured Materials for the 2025 School Pedagogical Routines.
Promoted by Sedu ES through the "Matemática na Rede" Program, and in partnership with IMPA, the meeting aimed to enhance the teaching practices of public school educators in Espírito Santo. The initiative sought to create a high-quality space for active listening and collaboration, strengthening scientific initiation projects and fostering the collective development of classroom actions.
